Abstract
More often than not, it is management that turns a business into a money-losing operation rather than external forces. The managers may be plenty smart and have a good track record, but they suddenly turn a deaf ear to the rumbling flat tire of performance. Super egos and the need to be big can be deafening diseases. Another cause is fear of change, even though circumstances demand it. Lastly, management can unknowingly intimidate the staff from bringing the problems to light. The turnaround manager often begins with the staff for a diagnosis of the problems as well as a prescription for the cure.
