Abstract
The capital markets can be very helpful when reviving troubled balance sheets. Although a Chapter 11 filing is the most common use of the capital markets to provide exit financing, there are other instances as well. This article reviews out-of-court cases such as exchange offers, pre-packaged and pre-negotiated plans where the use of the capital markets can drive the transaction. Several cases are cited as examples.
