Companies will need to have materials available to introduce new personnel at all levels to the mechanics of the required accounting, as well as the impact of that accounting on financial statements. This article presents three basic cases that highlight the accounting for an interest rate swap, a foreign exchange forward, and a commodity future, and provides simplified financial statements that reflect the impact of derivative hedging activity.
