For plan sponsors, the goals would be to reduce the costs and risks associated with the transition. This article discusses how important it is that a portfolio retain its value after a transition has occurred. Some of the topics discussed are implicit costs and opportunity costs, reducing market impact and operational risk, and questions that plan sponsors should ask transition managers. And, the transition manager selection process should begin well before the desired transition date.
