Abstract
Plan sponsors might be amazed at the emphasis brokers and investment managers now place on portfolio transitions, since the plan sponsors themselves have dealt with transitions for many years. This article briefly describes the history of portfolio transition providers and how the market for this expertise has evolved. Additionally, the article describes how transition providers vary and suggests how plan sponsors could select the appropriate provider to meet the specific requirements of each transition.
