Abstract
Bradford Soap Works, located in Chester, England, was in such dire circumstances that disaster was nearly certain. Pat Marso, the corporate renewal professional who masterminded the resuscitation, struggled through the six-month transition period right along with the troubled manufacturer. By installing systems, operational disciplines, and a new corporate strategy, the firm has emerged from certain failure to hard-won status as a leader in its industry. Marso's firm won the Turnaround Management Association's International Turnaround of the Year Award for 2001.
