Abstract
Institutional and individual investors have long understood the benefits of portfolio diversification across asset classes. Among the most challenging asset classes are emerging markets where U.S.-based investors must contend with obstacles such as higher transaction costs, poor information flow, stock ownership restrictions and restricted US$ repatriation of local foreign currency.
